When We Feel Lost

Have you ever felt lost? Have you ever experienced the fog of life crowding in around you with such ferocity that nothing you do could aid in your escape?

Darkness wraps itself around you, thick clouds move in over your sunny skies and you find yourself completely lost in the depths of it all. If you have every found yourself in this kind of situation you are not alone, most people you know and see have at one time or another felt lost.

It is a common occurrence to lose sight of where you are, who you are, and what you’re trying to do in your life. The stuff of this world crowds in with all the distractions and negative influences, creating a murky darkness. We may not realize it at first, but over time we begin to understand how the fog is keeping us from seeing where we’re going. Feelings of helplessness and panic crowd into our minds and the realization that we are lost begins to dawn on us.

When trapped in feelings of being lost, the sunniest of days can seem grey and the most vibrant colors can seem dull to our senses. Life loses the joy and peace it once had, our journey becomes a senseless stagger without direction.

We may be lost, but we will be again found and found by ourselves. There is nothing outside of ourselves that can fix the feelings of being lost, it cannot be erased by some accomplishment or another person. To be found, we must remind ourselves of who we are. Everything we need to find our way back to our true journey and our purpose can be found within. Instead of looking to the outside world for direction, turn your eyes inward and begin to see the truths that reside within your soul.

Our purpose and our true self is there inside of us, waiting for us to realize it was there all along. We may be lost, but there is always hope to be found. The journey back will always be one of self exploration and discovery. What was once lost will again be found, what was once desolate will again be bursting with life, and what was once a hopeless situation will again be the foundation for our great adventures.

We will not remain lost forever.

Until Next Time,

Lillian Merritt
