Day 271: Doing What You Can

What is the next thing that needs to happen in your life? It's a question we have all asked ourselves one time or another. We are constantly moving from one thing to another because of how goal oriented we are as a population. It's always about the dreams, the goals, and accomplishing it all, which is how it should be. But does it need to be that way every day?

Some days it just isn't beneficial to ask yourself what the next thing is going to be. Some days are just not for considering the future, some days are for taking care of yourself in the present. They are not for seeing where you can go, but what you can do with the time you have right now. There is a time and a place for "what's next?" and we must begin to understand when that is.

We are incredibly delicate people who need days of rest and a restart. When was the last time you checked in with yourself? So often we get caught up in the busyness of life and the constant consideration of what's next. When this happens it can be really hard to take the time for ourselves and our inner needs.

Not every day we live through needs to be focused on moving towards the future. Sometimes, we need to realize we simply cannot look at the future. There's too much pressure, stress, and sense of duty. We cannot bear that sometimes and that is okay. We need to realize what we can and cannot do.

Never forget that the moment of life you are living through right now, is part of your life. It's not always about your future, sometimes you have to force yourself to focus on the present. That is the only way to truly live out life. Life can only be lived in the current moment, it cannot be lived in the future. What matters most is what you do right now.

So the question is truly, what is can you do right now to ground yourself in the present moment? Take time today to reconnect with where you are on the inside, not just on the outside.

Until Next Time,
Lillian Merritt
