Day 360: One Step Forward
One of the hardest things to do in life is see where you want to be and make a plan for getting there from the place you stand in currently. Dreams are only dreams until we take the necessary steps to make them a reality. Yet, it can be really very hard to find the right path to walk down in the direction of the life you want.
Have you ever found yourself facing a life of dreams while standing in a place you don't want to be in? At some point or another, I believe everyone has found themselves in this situation. We know where we are and where we want to be, but we cannot see how to get to that place.
Before we can get to the place we want to be, we have to honestly figure out where that place is. Write out exactly what you want to see happen in the future, if everything worked out perfectly and you found yourself in your dream life what would it look like? Divide it into different categories and break down different parts of your career.
In detail what does your life look like a its best? For me, I divided it down into things like photography, social media, workshops, etc. I make a very detailed list of what I wanted to have happen in my life and what my priorities were like traveling and spending time with family. Over time your ideal life might change, but for now what exactly does it look like?
Then write down where you are currently. In the same categories take an honest look at where your life is now. This is your starting place and your foundation, you cannot get to any other place unless you realize exactly where you stand in the here and now.
From this place begin to look at what one tiny little step forward from your current place would look like as well as a tiny step back from your future place. Continue to do this over and over, taking steps back and forward from each place while writing it down in detail what is required.
This gives you a plan. A well thought out and detailed description of how to get from where you are now to where you want to be in the future. Of course it won't be perfect because life changes and our dreams change, but it will help us go in the right direction.
Until Next Time,
