Day 314: Rainy Days

Rainy days are the most comforting days of all. They bring with them a sense of nostalgia and sadness, while also mixing in feelings of rejuvenation and ecstasy. It pours from the sky and falls to the earth, filling little dips in the ground and soon they become puddles. Rain reminds you of everything and nothing at all.

Rainy days are the most comforting days of all. They show us that even the skies above shed tears when they get too heavy. Down, down, down falls the rain and it dances across your skin. Soon enough you'll be soaking wet, much like our pillows during some of the hardest nights of our lives.

Rainy days are the most comforting days of all. They call to you to put away the busyness of the world and slow down enough to stare at the world in wonder. Books and cups of tea look terribly enticing when the sky is releasing all the water the clouds contain. One just wants to curl up in a ball in the corner and never stir till the storm passes.

Rainy days are the most comforting days of all. They remind you of the times when you would take to the puddles and splash around like a little child. You look upon the world around you with wonder and see things as they once appeared, perfect and filled with so many possibilities. When it rains, suddenly the puddles call out to you to splash in them again.

Rainy days are the most comforting days of all. They are there to strip away thoughts of anything besides the current moment. When thunder rages overhead and rain pitter patters on the roof, you no longer concern yourself with anything but the present moment. Time begins to feel slower and you're okay with that.

Rainy days are the most comforting days of all. They show you that the world is beautiful even when it appears a little sad, just like you do. Tears fall a lot like the rain, and while it is beautifully painful during, a storm never lasts forever. When it is over there will be blue skies again and a rainbow will remind you that there is always hope. Yes, rainy days are the most comforting days of all because they remind us its okay to let it out because nothing will last for eternity.

Until Next Time,
Lillian Merritt
