Day 304: Under The Rainy Skies

Time seemed to stand still last night. I wasn't aware of anything from the past and nothing about the future seemed to interest me. My mind and my heart were so completely focused on the moment I was in that second. It was as if I was the only person in the world and this beautiful memory was to be mine and mine alone.

The outcome of the photography I was trying to capture did not even concern me in the slightest. Whether it worked or it didn't had not weight in my mind. It was only longer about that image, it become much more than that. My soul flew high above in the thunderclouds, surrounded by lighting and soaked with rain.

Wind swept through the trees behind me and my bare feet danced effortlessly across the ground below. I didn't have a clue what I was doing, the image I was attempting to make was experimental at best, but that fell further and further from the center of my attention. No end photograph could ever amount to the surreal magic this moment contained. It was too perfect and too wonderful.

Thunderstorms have always had a special place in my heart, watching lightning illuminate the sky was one of my favorite things to do when I was younger and not much has changed as the years go by. Dancing in the rain with thunder bellowing overhead has a way of pausing time and making you feel limitless, possibly even young again. Everything is possible, nothing could hold you back, it's just you and the precious moment you are in.

Nothing can compare to the time I spent outside last evening. I have no idea how long I was there and I desperately wanted the moment to last forever, however, one this is certain. I will always, always remember this photoshoot as being one of my absolute favorites. It contains a certain beauty that not every moment of life can produce.

it was fleeting and lasted forever. I danced and spun and didn't care about anything else besides the sky and the rain. The image I created from that photoshoot is only part of the story and can never truly capture the dreamlike qualities this moment possessed. I truly do not know if I was able to do this moment justice.

That moment was too beautiful for words, too wonderful to be captured on camera, and all around one of the most amazing moments in time I have had the pleasure of experiencing. So the words I want to leave you with are this, if there is rain…dance and if there is thunder…throw your arms back and surrender your heart to the moment you are in.

Until Next Time,
Lillian Merritt

"Žaibas"
(Lightning)
Thunder raged overhead as a result of the lightning ripping through the atmosphere. Rain slips from above and graces the ground with teardrops from on high.
