Day 284: Independence Day
Happy Fourth Of July! What a wonderful holiday to celebrate because it celebrates the core of what we stand for as Americans. This holiday, otherwise known as Independence Day, commemorates the decision of the 13 colonies to declare Independence from England and set about creating the greatest country on earth.
The Fourth of July is much more than a holiday to be celebrated with drinking beer, shooting off fireworks, and having an extended weekend. This holiday celebrates the very foundation of the amazing country we live in, from the Founding Fathers who risked it all to make sure our God given rights were not limited or taken away by government to every solider who has fought and died to keep us free. Never forget the sacrifices that took place to build the life you have today, people have died so that you can live.
No matter what the world is facing, it is a holiday worth celebrating. Yes, there have been black marks in our history, being great does not mean we are perfect. But just because we have made mistakes does not mean America is a mistake. We have failed to live up to the expectations of what this country was built upon, and we should not forget that because we must learn from those mistakes.
America is the land of the free, where everyone is created equally because we serve a God who has given us rights no man should be able to take away. We celebrate the fact that our rights are life, liberty, and the pursuit of happiness. Celebrating Independence Day on the Fourth of July is honoring the people that make this country great, not the government, not the laws, but the free citizens of the United States of America.
So party like it's July 4th, 1776 and we have declared ourselves free from the tyrants who were trying to strip away rights our God gave to us.
We hold these truths to be self-evident, that all men are created equal, that they are endowed by their Creator with certain unalienable Rights, that among these are Life, Liberty and the pursuit of Happiness.
