Day 233: Tethered In Place
We all walk down a path that is unique to us and our journey. Not a single person on this earth that has been, is, or will be, will ever have a path like the one you are on. It is unique to you and it is your completely. There are times when people go through similar situations as you have, but no journey is ever exactly like another person's journey.
Because we walk a unique and unexplored path, no one can help us find the right steps to take. It's uncharted territory not only for us, but for everyone around us. Since no one has ever walked your path, no one knows what is waiting for your along the way. You are the only one who will walk your path, what a beautiful and terrifying task.
All of this brings us to these questions, where are you on your journey and how long have you been there? Since we are all on a unique journey, it can be difficult to see where you are going and it can be so easy to allow things to tie you down to a single spot. Such things as events in our lives, circumstances, or even people can keep us from moving forward. We can even allow fear or doubt to keep us from taking the next step along the path of life.
Over time when we allow these negative things in, we become tethered to a single spot and the longer we stay there the thicker our bindings become. What once was just something in our life, becomes a chain that holds us back from our future. Our journey comes to a halt, often without our realization.
Without movement, we become complacent and avoid progression, simple things that are so vital in life. Comfort overtakes us and we are blinded to the fact that with it come imprisonment. Being comfortable with where you are in your life is one thing, being comfortable with not moving from that spot is a dangerous line to traverse. It leads to decay and wasted opportunities.
Accepting what has tethered you in place is detrimental not only to your journey, but to yourself. We begin wasting away when we're not challenged or when we're not facing exciting, new opportunities. Movement is necessary in life, it keeps us on our toes and journeying towards our dreams.
Life is a beautiful journey that is meant to be taken, where are you on that path? Take a realistic look at your life and see if you’ve been in a single spot for too long. It can be easy to allow the tethers to wrap around you without observation, but there is hope. Once you begin to see what is keeping you here, you’re on your way to breaking free. Growth and change can only happen when we are moving and there is no better time to move forward than now. Your journey is yours to take and the time to take the next step is now.
Until Next Time,
Lillian Merritt
