Day 201: He Is Risen
Happy Easter everyone! I hope you are having a wonderful day even though this is an Easter unlike any other. However, during this crazy time when we are unable to worship our risen Savior like usual we need to remember why Easter is what it is. This is not a day to celebrate the coming of a bunny (while it is still fun to carry out that tradition), we must remember to honor the true meaning of Easter.
Without today, the Christian faith would be nothing. Without Resurrection Sunday, Jesus would have been just another man who met his fate at the hands of the Romans. However, on the third day an event happened that literally turned the tides of the entire world. Jesus rose from the grave and offer us eternal life through Him.
This is the story of His resurrection as told through the Gospel of Luke:
On the first day of the week, very early in the morning, the women took the spices they had prepared and went to the tomb. They found the stone rolled away from the tomb, but when they entered, they did not find the body of the Lord Jesus. While they were wondering about this, suddenly two men in clothes that gleamed like lightning stood beside them. In their fright the women bowed down with their faces to the ground, but the men said to them, “Why do you look for the living among the dead? He is not here; he has risen! Remember how he told you, while he was still with you in Galilee: ‘The Son of Man must be delivered over to the hands of sinners, be crucified and on the third day be raised again.’ ” Then they remembered his words.
Luke 24:1-8
In this story is the greatest of all hope because it tells us that our Savior is alive and living today. He conquered death for us so that we can be saved through the blood He slipped for us. Jesus paid the ultimate price in order to give us the opportunity to trust in Him and find salvation. God loved us so much that He willing gave up His own son to death in order to save us. That is the example of the trust, most unconditional love there is.
For God so loved the world that he gave his one and only Son, that whoever believes in him shall not perish but have eternal life. For God did not send his Son into the world to condemn the world, but to save the world through him.
John 3:16-17
Easter is the holiday above all holidays. Without the resurrection of Jesus Christ, there would be no hope. He loves us so much that He died the death we all deserve and His love did not end then. Today and forever, He will love us no matter what and desires to have a close and personal relationship with you.
Your Savior is awaiting you and desires for you to turn to Him. Today He is alive because on that very first Easter Sunday, He rose from the grave and trampled death under His feet. Our eternal life can be found through Him, all we have to do is repent and believe and if we do this He will forgive our sins.
Until Next Time,
Lillian Merritt
