Day 147: Favorite Films
There are thousands upon thousands of movies in existence. In fact movies have been around since 1888, that's 132 years of movies to be able to draw from for entertainment. I would like to share with you my favorite films and why I enjoy them so much.
- King Arthur: Legend of the Sword
If I had to pick one movies above all the others, it would be this one. Can we talk about how incredible it is for a minutes? The lighting, the colors, the story, the characters. Everything is perfect. It is amazing how they can take such a famous story and tell it in a way that has never been done before and give you characters that you absolutely love and some that you loathe completely. And the cinematography, it is unlike anything I have ever seen before. It is filled with so many inspiring visuals and the music is incredible. I truly cannot begin to describe how much I love this movie, it is my favorite in every possible way.
- The Greatest Showman
If you are alive in the 21st century, there is a big chance that you have at least seen the Greatest Showman, one of the best movies of our time, I truly believe. Not only is it a story based on a real person, it is created much like the classic musicals of old that seem to have gone out of style. Elaborate dance numbers, stunning costumes, and some of the most amazing vocals come together to create a magical story that captures your heart. Not to mention the visual wonders created with the lighting and the colors throughout the entire film. It is spectacular from start to finish.
- The Hundred-Foot Journey
This film is not only fun to watch it is a wonderful story revolving around a family from India trying to make it as a restaurant in France. However, the reason it is one of my favorite films is because of the lighting and the colors. It is incredible, and beyond words. Every scene is composed more like a painting or a photograph because of it's coloring and lighting. Beautiful from start to finish, it will definitely leave you feeling hungry not only for more stunning visuals but some traditional Indian food.
- Ford vs. Ferrari
While I have only seen this movies once in theaters, it was phenomenal. And it was phenomenal for many reasons which I have already mention for every movie listed so far. The colors, the lighting, and the story. This movies has it all and it leaves you on the verge of tears in a way that is just incredible. It is truly a wild ride from start to finish and just a stunning movies filled with so many lovable characters.
- Inception
If I had to pick my favorite movie of all time (and it couldn't be King Arthur: Legend of the Sword) it would be Inception. In fact until I saw King Arthur, Inception was my all time favorite movie. It. Is. Incredible. Every second of it, the story, the characters, the visuals, the colors, the music. Everything comes together to create a story that has you on the edge of your seat for the entire film, not to mention the ending, talk about cliffhanger. If I could un-watch any movie and then watch it again to experience it for the first time again, it would be this one.
- Tolkien
Color, lighting and story. If you have read this far you may have come to see the three things I am looking for in a movie. This one has it all, not to mention it is about one of the most world renowned authors of all time. It portrays the author so well, as well as clips and scenes from the stories he is writing which are done in such an incredible way. It is also incredible special to me because I watched in while flying to Scotland for the first time. It is a beautiful ride from start to finish that will most likely leave you in tears.
Movies are amazing because they allow us to live out different lives and time periods and worlds without leaving our living room or theater. They captivate, touch, and inspire and can truly be some of the most beautiful things. What are some of your favorite movies?
Until Next Time,
Lillian Merritt
