Day 74: Getting Balance
What happens when life and work begin to creep in on each other? What happens when you realize how little time you are actually spending doing the things you love, such as spending time with family and friends? If you ever get to this point, you may need to take a step back.
We have all heard about the work life balance and how in order to be successful in life we must carry out this balanced version of the life we are currently living. However, most of the time we seem to be struggling with finding that perfect balance.
What do you do when you find a discrepancy between your work and your life? It is nearly impossible to find this happy medium, I would even say that is impossible to find that perfect spot. Yet there is hope for us. We can begin by starting with the little things.
How many little things are you wasting your time on? I'm sure if you went through your entire day, you could find several areas in which you spend far too much time doing seemingly meaningless tasks. These little areas in which you are wasting time could often be roped in and that time spent somewhere else. Somewhere like with family or on a coffee date with a friend.
Even so it can be hard to eliminate things from your life that you have been doing for so long. Little habits can be hard to break, but you can do it. If you don't seem able to find that balance let me share a little advice I read off of some quote on Pinterest. It refers to school, yet it can be applied to any area of life.
"Sacrificing your A in school for a B so that you can make an A in life might be one of the best sacrifices you can make."
This principle applies to trying to find balance. Sometimes there simply will never be any kind of balance. However, if you have to tip the scales in one way or another, tip it in favor of your friends and family. In the long run they mean much more than any assignment, deadline, etc. Family and friends will be forever, try and get an A in those areas.
Until Next Time,
