Day 62: Tell Them You Care

If you knew you were going to die tomorrow and had only enough time to write letters to the people you cared about, what would you say to them? Life is such a fragile gift that could disappear in an instant, have you told everyone you love how much you care?

As we approach a day of being thankful for everything in our lives, take a moment and write a physical letter to all the people you care about in your life. Write as if you only had one day left to live and these would be the last words you ever shared with these people.

What would you say?

I have a feeling we would share pages and pages of how much we love them and how much they mean to us. We would write of the little moments and the times they made us feel loved. We would try and explain how much they mean to us and how they have influenced our life for the better.

There would probably be some letters written to those we care for but have never told or have not told often. This letter would be an explanation of our love for them and probably filled with a bit of remorse for never having shared it with them in person. How many of these letter would you have to write?

While I hope we have many, many years ahead of all of us, it is important we remember those we care about. If we knew we would die tomorrow, we couldn't stop telling those we love how much they mean to us. But would we be plagued with the regret of not having told them sooner or more often?

I encourage you as we enter into this week of Thanksgiving to make a list of people you would write these letters to if indeed you were to die tomorrow. Then simply tell that person how much they mean to you. A quick text, email, phone call, etc. Tell the people who have made a difference in your life simply that. Make their day by telling them how important they are to our story. Remind those you love just how much you care about them. No matter how much time you have left on this earth, try and make it a practice to tell those around you just how much you love them.

We don't know when we will reach our last day. Wouldn't it be better to not have to write the letters because those we love know how much they mean to us? Never pass up an opportunity to say "I love you" to your friends and family. Show them how much they mean to you and always be thankful for their presence in your life.

Until Next Time,
Lillian Merritt
