Day 48: Cost of Freedom

Freedom is defined as the power or right to act, speak, or think as one wants without hindrance or restraint. As laid out in the Declaration of Independence, "All men are created equal, that they are endowed by their Creator with certain unalienable Rights, that among these are Life, Liberty and the pursuit of Happiness."

We as humans have a right to live and to be free and pursue the things that make us happy. However, this freedom never comes without a cost. A high price must be paid in order to preserve our rights, this often comes through the sacrifices of the brave men and women who willing put their lives on the line to protect our freedom.

I have the amazing opportunity to be an American citizen and live in a place where freedom has been established. Yet I know that these rights I get to enjoy every day do not come naturally. One must fight to protect the things we enjoy, one must thank the veterans who have given up so much in order for me to enjoy this freedom.

So today I just want to take a moment and thank all those who have and are serving in the United States Military. Everyone who has sacrificed something for this great country deserves our respect and our gratitude. Their families also deserve our thanks because they have been willing to let their loved one go fight for freedom. Everyone who has sacrificed something for the preservation of freedom deserves our endless thanks, we cannot repay them enough for what you have done. America is home of the free because of the brave.
