Sands Of Time
Time flows past on an endless stream, slipping and tumbling away before disappearing forever. Here one second and gone the next, we are left wondering where all the time has gone. In these moments our best defense is clinging to every second that has passed, a habit that is much more damaging than rewarding.
The year has progressed into September, the month that seems to be on the edge of the end of the year. Eight of the twelve months have already passed us by and it seems like they did so in a manner that was faster than any year before.
Doesn't it seem like with every year that passes time moves faster? Doesn't it seem like the days blur past with increasing speed?
Time is a hard concept to grasp, it is elusive and can feel different at any given time. Days can stretch on for what feels like years, yet years pass us by faster than any day we have experienced. Yesterday can feel like forever ago while the beginning of the year feels like yesterday. Time plays tricks on our mind and can generally be a confusing thing to think about.
However, time is an important thing to consider. We are all given one life, we are all given 24 hours a day, and we are all given the promise that our next second is not promised to us. Any moment can be our last, yet how often do we live like that?
More often than not we live as if we are running backwards. We keep our eyes trained on the past because we value the time we have lost. Because of this, though, we often miss the time that is around us at this very moment. Our past is our obsession because our past is familiar and our past is the time we have experienced. We don't want to let go of it.
But what if I told you the sands of time are flowing by right now and we are wasting it by focusing on the time we have already used up? We are alive this very second and we might not be in the next one. Time is incredibly precious so stop and ask yourself what you are doing with it.
Live for the time you are experiencing right now. Not for the past and not for the future. Live for this very second. Stop chasing the sand that has already slipped through your fingers and focus on the sand that is in our palms.
This moment is the most important moment out of them all because it is happening right now. What are you going to do with it?
