We all have an immense power in our lives that often goes unnoticed most of the time. That power is found in our freedom of choice. Never underestimate the power we have as individuals to choose what we want to do with our lives and choose how we want to spend our time.
Everyone makes hundreds of choices each day from the moment we wake up to the moment we fall asleep. From the decision of what to do directly after we open our eyes to the decision of what to think about as we’re falling asleep, we are literally deciding at all times. In fact a quick google search said that we make 35,000 choices every day. There is an incredible about of freedom in that.
True freedom is the freedom to be able to make a choice. To be able make a choice, any choice, no matter what anyone else says is freedom. A freedom that can be used in so many incredible and detrimental ways. It is freedom because we can pick literally anything in the whole entire world, yet not all the choices we make are the best things for us in our lives.
We pick every second and sometimes, we just don’t pick the most beneficial thing. Think about it for a second, all the choices we have made throughout the years we have been alive has led us to this exact moment. For me that means all my choices have led me to the place where I am listening to instrumental music, eating Swedish Fish, and writing a blog post at 1:30 a.m. What that says about me…I’m not sure, but it does say a lot.
We also have to consider the fact that the choices we make next, will lead us either towards a life we really truly want to live or away from it. Every single person has the freedom to make their life different from what it is today simply from the power of choice. There is nothing we cannot do if we simply put our minds to it and make careful decisions that will guide us in the right direction.
The only thing standing between you and every goal, dream, and wish you have is the next choice you’re going to make. Often times our decisions happen subconsciously and we hardly even think about them. It’s become habit to reach for your phone as soon as you open your eyes. It’s just easier to eat the junk food than to prepare a meal. It’s easier to prep the next week than actually doing the work for this week. The list could go on and on and on.
Now we’re all human, there are simply times when we make the easier decision and have to live with the consequences of our choice. That’s the freedom of it, the choice you make leads to a consequence and you’ll have to pay for it no matter what it is. Even the right choices can have some consequences, working out requires you to carve out some extra time and saving money for the higher quality camera can mean laying off coffee runs for a while. There will be after effects from your choice. You have to decide whether or not those effects are worth it in the long run.
So the question is, are you making the right decision for the future you want to have? If the choices you are making right now come easy and create little to no discomfort, I hate to break it to you, but I don’t think you’re going in the right direction. Usually the choices that take you where you want to go are the choices that are uncomfortable, hard to make, and honestly not that fun. But we are willing to make the effort because we know that the outcome will make it all worth it.
We all have the freedom of choice, so choose wisely.
Until Next Time,
